This data was pulled from the Resident Survey and pertained to the question, “In the past 12 months, did you or anyone in your household participate in citizen-science activities of measuring, monitoring or reporting…” ( bird count, water monitoring). All resident survey data relate to the previous year.

The questions pertaining to picking up garbage and cleaning/improving a natural area were not deemed to be indicative enough of the level of environmental awareness of residents (for example, residents could be engaging more deeply and frequently in other aspects of environmental responsibility that were not getting captured in the question. Hence, the KPI was revised to incorporate citizen-science activities.
